The thrift store really let me down for this months challenge. After going every week for a month, I still hadn’t found anything for this challenge. I was starting to get worried, but garbage day rolled around. I found this white wooden folding chair that was saying “pick me.” Decorating for Halloween is one of my favorite things to decorate for, so this chair needed a Halloween makeover to be a cute Halloween Chair for the porch.
The Rules:
- Upcycle an item(s) from a thrift store, resale store, or garage sale into a new piece of decor.
- There’s no monthly theme.
- There’s no budget to stick to.

Let’s Create a Cute Halloween Chair for the Porch
The hardest part of this whole chair was the design, I had so many ideas. It was such a blank canvas, the possibilities were endless. I started by giving the chair a good sanding. The weather has changed here dramatically and I sanded it in between the rain showers.
Thank goodness the weather cleared one day so I could spray paint the chair black outside.
I took a small sanding block and sanded along the edges and the seat of the chair so it had a slightly aged look to it.
Who’s ready to decorate? This was the fun part. For Halloween, I love to use purple, orange, and green for projects. It Cricut Design Space, I took an image off of a witches hat to put on the spindles of the chair. The polka dots and stars look awesome on the spindles. At the top I put Happy Halloween in a pattern with the colors. I used painters tape to attach the letters to the chair to make sure Happy Halloween was spaced right.
On the seat of the chair I picked a cute jack o’lantern and added him to the center of the chair.
Halloween Porch Decor Ideas
Our porch is already decorated for Halloween, but the cute Halloween chair is the perfect addition to our porch and our entryway.
Here it is by my Spooky Porch Sign. The witch hat is so cute on the pumpkin!
The porch is decorated with Halloween lights and the chair looks so cute by them.
I really like it in the other corner with the witches hat on the porch post. The porch post would all look “cute and witchy” with hats on each post.
And now for more thrifty goodness!
