The Nightmare Before Christmas is not my thing, but my son loves it. He loves anything with Jack Skellington. He was the cutest Jack for Halloween. My Christmas Ornament today is for my son and his love of Jack and really all things Halloween. We had fun making this Jack Skellington Paper Plate Craft and these Jack Skellington Ping Pong Ball Lights . Making a DIY Jack SKellington Christmas ornament is really easy. If your a Jack Skellington fan too, you will love these lights I made for Halloween, but they would look good on a tree too.

I’m using a clear plastic disc ornament because I want my son to be able to hang it on the tree without worrying about it breaking (their would be so many tears). If he still loves Jack when he’s older I will make him a glass one. Their are so so so many blank ornaments out there, so just choose one that’s perfect for you or to give as a gift.
Supplies
Clear Plastic Disc Ornament
Cricut Maker (or any Cutting Machine)
Black Vinyl
Transfer Paper
White Craft Paint

Let’s Create a Jack Skellington Christmas Ornament
To get started take the top off of the ornament, squeeze in some paint and replace the top.
Shake, swirl, and tap the ornament until it’s covered in white paint. Put the top back on and lay it in a drink tray (it’s the prefect holder for the ornament to dry).
In Cricut Design Space™ using my Cricut Maker I used an image of Jack Skellington’s face and sized it to fit the ornament. I made his classic bat bowtie for the back of the ornament.
Then I cut Jack’s face in Oracal 651 Black Vinyl . Using transfer paper I added his image to the ornament. I added the eyes and nose first (with transfer paper) because the ornament still has a slight curve to it.
Then his mouth and the bat bowtie on the back.
You must have black and white striped ribbon for Jack so I added it to use as the ornament hanger on the tree. In my world everything is better with ribbon.
Another great thing about this ornament is it can be used for two season- Halloween and Christmas! It looks great on our spooky tree and it will look great on the Christmas tree too!
I can’t wait to see my son’s face when he opens it. Do you like to make homemade ornaments for your family and friends?
