I love decorating for Valentine’s day because it brings a spot of color to a dark and dreary winter. Bring on the all the pink, white and red. I am totally obsessed with making wood book stacks and I’m working on some for all the holidays. My Valentine Mini Book Stack is Rae Dunn inspired and the perfect addition to your Valentine’s day decor.
This really just has a few simple supplies to make the basic books, then you can decorate them however you want. The Valentine craft trim I found at Hobby Lobby is perfect for this craft project.

Let’s Create a Faux Valentine Mini Book Stack
Ready to get crafty and create the cutest mini book bundle?
These 2×4’s were leftover from my Rae Dunn Inspired Ho Ho Ho Blocks for Christmas. I made these for a craft show (pre-Covid) and they were very popular. Cut the 2×4 to 4.5 inch blocks for this book stack.
Next I painted two of the 2×4 blocks read with the Flag Red Paint and the other with the Wicker White.
Creating the Design with my Cricut Joy
As the paint was drying, I made the design for the Valentine’s book stack. Since this faux mini book stack is Rae Dunn inspired, I used the font Cami Rae. I had to download the font to my computer and then I could use it in Cricut Design Space™.
To size the saying correctly, make the rectangles the size of the 2×4 blocks and create the design on them. Before cutting the design, delete or hide the rectangles.
Using my Cricut Joy, I cut the saying for the 2×4 blocks. The new awesome, Smart Vinyl does not need a mat and just slides into the Cricut Joy (I love it!!!)
Weed and remove all the extra vinyl from the design. You must be very, very careful weeding these skinny fonts. The letters very easily peel up sometimes. Using the transfer tape and the Cricut scraper, add the words to the sides of the wood blocks. I chose to add mine close to the edge of the blocks to leave room for the ribbon.
Decorating the Faux Mini Book Stack
To decorate the Valentine mini book stack, I added on red plaid ribbon by hot glueing it to the back of the blocks. My new cordless glue gun (a Christmas present from my husband) is amazing! If you love to use hot glue like me, get this awesome glue gun.
Then as a decoration on top of the ribbon, I added on the Valentine craft trim. Those cute little wooden hearts are adorable!
The faux Valentine Mini Book Stack with Rae Dunn is all ready to decorate and brighten up your home. It’s the perfect size for a tiered tray, a shelf or table. Enjoy creating and decorating with them.
